Course Description: The Machines and Equipment (DESI513) course, taught at the second master's level in Fashion Design with 3 credit hours, covers fabric inspection machines and equipment, fabric spreading machines and methods/stages of spreading, fabric cutting machines and tools, sewing, overlocking, buttonhole, button attaching, embroidery, and printing machines and their parts, ironing and pressing machines and equipment, and packaging machines and equipment.

Objectives of the course :

The course aims to study the types of machines, apparatus, and equipment used in the garment industry, their usage, and maintenance. It also covers common errors in using ready-made garment machines and equipment and how to overcome them, along with studying the usage and maintenance of some of these machines and equipment, and applying sewing techniques for clothing products on industrial sewing machines.

• Variety of industrial knitting machines based on the standard scientific classification.
• Cutting tools and machines are classified by mechanism and cutting continuity.
Identifies fabric defects in accordance with standard specifications for final product inspection quality.
