Apparel production technology

Course Description: The Clothing Production Technology (DESI516) course, studied in the second year of the Fashion Design Master's program, is worth 3 credit hours. It covers factory internal layout, the role of each department, its machinery and equipment, and the basic stages in ready-to-wear garment production. Topics include production planning and control, objectives of planning, tasks and functions of production planning and control, developing a production plan for a industrially viable garment product, production theories, objectives of material requirements planning, the Master Production Schedule (MPS), calculating workload rates, functional charts, factors affecting production rates and worker productivity, different production line systems in ready-to-wear factories, analyzing operation process charts in relation to material flow paths within the production line for a garment product, and quality standards in the ready-to-wear garment production stages. .
Credit hours: 3
Objectives of the course :

The course aims to study clothing production methods and the role of the garment industry in community development. It will also cover factory departments and their interrelationships, focusing on the production planning department and the stages of garment production. The course will also address the machinery and equipment used in each stage, proper operation, and maintenance. Additionally, it will impart skills in pattern making for industrial production, creating operation cards for manufactured garments, and applying quality control throughout all production stages.

Course outputs :

Knowledge and understanding:
• Machines and equipment used in different departments of garment factories are classified
Explains the basics of planning the raw materials needed for production.
• The multiplicity of different departments in garment factories and their relationships.
- Distinguish between types of production lines according to different systems.
• Discuss quality standards in the garment industry.
Skills
Industrial knitting machines are organized within production lines according to the operations plan of garment factories.
• Implement the production plan, executive programs, and their monitoring methods.
• Measures movement, time, and production rates in garment factories.
• Completes products according to quality standards.
• Statistical programs are applied to calculate costs (“production costs, production capacity“).
Values, autonomy and responsibility:
• You can solve production problems and process them statistically.
Libraries, both physical and electronic, are employed to access learning resources in the field of garment manufacturing.
