Using computers in fashion design

Course Description: The course "Computer Use in Fashion Design" (DESI517), taught at the third year Master's level of Fashion Design with 2 credit hours, covers the concepts and tools of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. It clarifies the advantages and disadvantages of each program, methods for drawing flat and volumetric garment designs in sequential layers using Adobe Illustrator tools, steps for coloring designs and adding shading, lighting, textures, and materials, highlighting key Adobe Photoshop tools. It also explores innovative methods for presenting final colored designs and introduces the most important computer programs and tablets specialized in fashion design.

Objectives of the course :

The course aims at introducing the concept of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop and defining the function of each of the programs' tools, explaining the methods of drawing clothing designs in the form of successive layers and implementing them using Adobe Illustrator, coloring innovative clothing designs with appropriate textures and materials, and outputting them in an innovative presentation style using Adobe Photoshop.
