Review of existing literature

Course Description: In these weekly seminars, each student or group of students will be responsible for summarizing and presenting recent scientific articles published within the preceding twelve months in specialized oral health journals. The articles will be critically analyzed and evaluated. Students will be required to read all assigned articles and prepare to discuss each article in detail during the seminar. Students are expected to refer to any of the articles cited in the reference section of the articles being discussed. Students are expected to refer to any pre-existing published articles that may be cited within a specific article as needed for the critical analysis and discussion of that specific paper. Students are expected to compare the articles to be discussed with those discussed in previous seminars. This course allows students to integrate current concepts and recent developments in the prevention and measurement of oral diseases into clinical practice.

Objectives of the course :

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Develop critical reading skills related to social literature.
2. Include points to consider during the critical analysis of different types of studies.
3. Description of various modern technologies and materials in the field of general dental health.
4. Critical and constructive interpretation and analysis of all selected articles/book chapters.
5. Interpretation of relevant data using information technology and library resources to solve a clinical problem
