The university concluded the work of the «Second International Conference on Natural Resources Sustainability,» which was held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Al-Qassim Region. The conference lasted for two days at the King Abdulaziz Conference Center at the university city, with the participation of 39 speakers, including academics, researchers, and experts from inside and outside the Kingdom.
The conference featured 11 scientific and discussion sessions that addressed pivotal issues in natural resource sustainability. These included the circular and green economy, spending efficiency, resource conservation, innovation and technology, and the role of artificial intelligence in supporting sustainable development. The sessions also included a review of local and international experiences and the exchange of expertise among academic, governmental, and private sectors.
The scientific sessions covered 5 specialized tracks, focusing on Saudi Vision 2030, Sustainable Development Goals, environmental sustainability, renewable energy, agriculture and water, and health and well-being, in addition to the Sharia and ethical dimensions of responsible consumption. They concluded with a number of recommendations, proposed policies, and a future roadmap to enhance resource efficiency and achieve sustainable development.
The conference included an accompanying exhibition in which a number of governmental, private, and non-profit entities participated, alongside a display of research posters by male and female university students, reflecting a distinguished level of scientific output, innovative ideas, and economic solutions supporting the sustainability of natural resources.
This conference comes as an affirmation of Qassim University's scientific and societal role in supporting constructive dialogue on sustainability issues, promoting applied scientific research, and building effective partnerships that contribute to achieving the goals of sustainable development, and establishing a culture of rational consumption and efficient spending at both local and international levels.
