The university, represented by the General Administration for Community Partnership, is participating in the second Community Partnership Forum 2023 "Tatwef," which is held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Qassim Region, today, Sunday, November 5, 2023. The forum is organized by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing at the King Khalid Cultural Center in Buraydah.
The university's participation came through a session titled: "The Role of Qassim University in Empowering Women to Participate in Community Service and Community Initiatives," presented by Dr. Ashwaq bint Saleh Al-Shareeda, Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences, and Dr. Haifa bint Mohammed Al-Rabean, a faculty member at the College of Education. The paper addressed the university's role in community service (with the Qibah health, awareness, and educational campaign as a model). This scientific paper reviewed the care and attention the university has given to community participation and women's empowerment within it. It has not been limited to its educational, academic, and research roles, but has also extended to what serves the region and its people. It emphasized that the university organizes and implements various programs on all occasions and contributes to diverse activities and events targeting all segments of society and covering the entire region's geography through general and specialized training programs, field and executive community responsibility programs, and community partnership programs with various entities in the region, as well as specialized academic programs, seminars, workshops, lectures, and consultations, volunteer programs and initiatives, media awareness programs, participation programs in international community service days, university initiatives on national occasions, and activation initiatives such as summer programs and seasonal programs like participation in local festivals, and the university's initiative to activate the campaign of His Highness the Prince of the region (I am Saudi.. I am proud of my identity) as one of the initiatives of the National Personality Enhancement Program, one of the programs of the Kingdom's Vision.
The session also addressed the awareness, educational, and health campaigns and caravans organized by the university with the aim of raising the awareness and culture of the region's children as a whole, and caring for their health, which is in the interest of the nation and contributes to comprehensive development and progress in all economic and social fields, achieving security and stability, and keeping pace with the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
The session also addressed the topic of women's empowerment at Qassim University, which was represented by nine clear indicators: increasing the expansion of leadership positions for women to participate in the management of the educational system at the university, increasing the participation of academic leaders in decision-making, strategic planning, and university councils, allocating packages of qualitative training programs targeting university staff, including special programs for qualifying female leaders, expanding the offering of new specializations for female students in the fields of humanities, health, and medicine, expanding postgraduate programs for female students by introducing new programs, and increasing the percentage of female faculty members sent on scholarships to complete their postgraduate studies.
It is noted that the forum is being held for its second edition under the slogan "Solidarity." It aims to shed light on the establishment of urban gardens, their importance for residential areas, their most prominent features, and the mechanisms for their implementation and management, as well as the role of community participation in activating their various programs and activities. The forum's work will be accompanied by several seminars and programs that include discussion and dialogue sessions, in addition to an accompanying exhibition showcasing the most prominent local experiences and expertise. It also allows participation in workshops offered by specialists on various topics.
