University signs memorandum of cooperation to establish an unmanned aircraft systems factory within the Rafid program

His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Eng. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, witnessed the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding between Qassim University and the United Defense Company, to establish an advanced innovative factory for manufacturing drone systems within the university's premises, as part of the “Rafed” program launched by the ministry. The ceremony was attended by His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Sharikh, His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Council of University Affairs, Dr. Bassam bin Abdullah Al-Bassam, and His Excellency the Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Waleed bin Saleh Al-Battah, at the ministry's headquarters in Riyadh.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the university by the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Abdulrahman bin Ibrahim Al-Attiyah, and on behalf of the company by its CEO, Mr. Basim bin Abdullah Al-Mohammadi, in an effort to activate the cooperation agreement recently signed between the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and the university.

The “Rawafed” program aims to develop effective partnerships with a number of academic institutions, which will enhance the utilization of innovations and research in the field of advanced manufacturing, especially in the promising sectors targeted by the National Industrial Strategy, and contribute to qualifying national capabilities in education, training, research, development, and innovation.
