Conditions
- The applicant for the grant must be a faculty member at the university or equivalent and be the principal investigator.
- The proposal must be for an original research that has not been previously published or submitted for funding or another grant.
- The research proposal topic should be linked to one of the grant's focus areas.
- The research proposal topic should align with the researcher's scientific specialization.
- The researcher may not submit more than one research proposal for this grant.
- More than one researcher can participate in the research proposal, provided that the financial reward is for the principal investigator only.
- The researcher must adhere to a sound scientific methodology and rely on credible scientific references and sources.
- To have the research published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal ranked in the latest classification of one of these lists: (ARCIF, Scopus, Web of Science).
- The researcher must acknowledge university support in the published research as follows:

The timetable
- Call for Proposals Opens: Starting 10 Rabi' al-Akhir 1447 AH (October 2, 2025 CE).
- Proposal submission deadline: 17 Jumada al-Awwal 1447 AH (November 8, 2025).
- Examination and arbitration phase: From Jumada al-Awwal 18 to Jumada al-Akhirah 25, 1447 AH (November 9 to December 16, 2025 CE).
- Announcement of candidacy results: Jumada al-Thani 26, 1447 AH (December 17, 2025 AD).
Bonus and execution period
- The principal investigator's bonus is 3,000 riyals monthly during the research implementation period, and it is disbursed after the research is published and the grant conditions are met.
- The implementation period is 6 months from the date of signing the contract between the researcher and the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research until the actual publication of the research.

Scientific Publishing Incentive Initiative
The Publication Incentive Initiative is one of the Deanship's initiatives that aims to encourage scientific publication in high impact factor classified scientific journals in Web of Science (WoS) databases for faculty members and their equivalents, health practitioners, and male and female students affiliated with the university, according to the conditions and regulations below:
Criteria and Controls for the Disbursement of Publication Incentive Awards in Indexed Journals
1- Financial bonus disbursement for Qassim University staff, including faculty members and their equivalents, health practitioners from the university city and colleges, and students.
2- To disburse the financial reward, the scientific affiliation listed on the scientific paper for researchers from college staff must be according to the format approved by the Scientific Council, as follows:
Department of ..., College of ..., Qassim University
With the exception of the name "Applied College," which shall be in the following format:
Unit of Scientific Research, Applied College, Qassim University
and the Medical City's staff according to the following formula:
Department of ... , Medical City, Qassim University
3- To receive the award, the scientific paper must not be an output of research grants that have received financial support from any entity within Qassim University. Scientific papers that only received support for publication fees are excluded.
4- Payment of the financial bonus is conditional on the scientific paper being published in a scientific journal classified within the Web of Science (WOS) databases and listed in the citation indices:
- Science Citation Expanded (SCIE).
- Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI)
And research published in WoS Emerging Sources or journals without an impact factor will not be accepted
5- The scientific paper must contain at least one keyword from the approved keywords by the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research.
6- The WOS classification is the basis for determining the publication incentive bonus for Q1, Q2, Q3, or Q4, as shown in the following table:

7- The financial reward is divided among the faculty members and students of Qassim University only, in the case of publication in the first category of elite journals (Nature, Science) only, provided that they are among the first (15) authors of the scientific paper. Half of the reward is counted otherwise.
8- The financial reward is divided by the total number of authors on the scientific paper and the reward allocated is disbursed to university affiliates only, provided the publication is in all categories except the first.
9- (10%) of the reward value is added for research collaboration with external entities (academic and non-academic).
10- A bonus of (5%) is added for citing fewer than five scientific papers published in Qassim University journals, and (10%) for citing five or more scientific papers. Citations from scientific papers by any of the authors of the submitted scientific paper should not be included.
11- In the case of publication with a single author, (50%) of the category bonus is disbursed.
12- The value of financial rewards disbursed to a single researcher shall not exceed fifty thousand riyals per calendar year, excluding publications in the first category.
13- The Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research is the authority concerned with interpreting the conditions.
14- Financial rewards will be withheld for any published research that violates the controls.
15- Applications that have been published for more than six months from the actual publication date will not be accepted.
Scientific Publishing Fee Support Initiative
The Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at Qassim University offers a scientific publishing fees support initiative with the aim of encouraging male and female researchers to publish their work in distinguished and classified publication venues to raise the quality of scientific research.
Terms of the initiative
1- The published research has not received any support for scientific publishing fees from any internal or external entity.
2- The publication must be of the type Original Article or Review Article in peer-reviewed scientific journals listed in the following databases:
- Web of Science (WoS) databases for all disciplines.
- Scopus lists for humanities disciplines only.
3- Add thanks to the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research to the published research according to the following format:
The Researchers would like to thank the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at Qassim University (www.qu.edu.sa) for financial support (QU-APC-20XX).
4- The applicant must be a faculty member at Qassim University or equivalent, serving as the principal investigator (first author) or corresponding author, provided that the total number of corresponding authors in the published scientific paper does not exceed two.
5- The researcher's (applicant's) first affiliation in the published scientific paper must be the affiliation of Qassim University.
6- To have the documented scientific affiliation (belonging) in the researcher's published research in the following approved format:

9- The faculty member from Qassim University is not necessarily the corresponding author if the publication is a result of collaboration with researchers affiliated with local or international non-academic institutions (such as factories, hospitals, companies, etc.), and they are compensated for no more than one research project during the academic year.
10- Submit your application within six months from the date of publication on the journal's website.

Initiative to establish specialized research groups
The Deanship of Scientific Research seeks to elevate the level of scientific research by working to define the university's research identity, establish controls and guidelines for forming research groups, develop human capabilities, and equip the necessary infrastructure for research, development, and innovation in the specialized fields of the research groups. This is achieved by creating a suitable environment, building and updating basic infrastructure, and enhancing the capabilities and levels of researchers to maintain their contributions and reach levels of excellence and leadership.

A research group is a collection of faculty members from the university across a number of interdisciplinary and integrated scientific disciplines who possess distinguished research and knowledge expertise in their field and seek to conduct high-quality collaborative research that contributes to the production of comprehensive knowledge and serves the community.

Promising grant for new faculty members
This project aims to attract new faculty members to the university's distinguished scientific research environment by providing financial support and a suitable, encouraging atmosphere to foster a spirit of competition among researchers. The quality and caliber of the research proposal, as well as the importance of its applied outcomes, are the fundamental pillars in judging the research's excellence and competitiveness. The Deanship, through this project, primarily aims to support and assist new researchers at the beginning of their research journey and to identify distinguished researchers early on so they can become a cornerstone of research work at the university. A new faculty member is defined as a Saudi national who has been appointed to the rank of Assistant Professor for no more than one year.
Terms and Conditions for Application
1- The faculty member's appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor at the university must not have been more than one year. (The decision of appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor must be attached with the research proposal).
2- The research should not be extracted from a Master's or PhD thesis, nor should it have been completed in whole or in part previously.
3- The publication should be of the type Original Article or Review Article
4- The research must be within the research priorities of the National Plan 2030.
5- The researcher must commit to completing the project and obtaining all the required points for program completion as follows:
- The researcher attends a scientific research ethics course for a total of 20 points.
- The researcher attends three specialized or non-specialized courses through official channels that are directly related to scientific research, totaling 40 points.
- The researcher is presenting a workshop to review project results in coordination with specialized research centers, totaling 20 points.
- The researcher publishes a scientific paper in a peer-reviewed journal indexed in Web of Science (WOS) or Scopus, thus earning 20 points.
6- The project duration is one year, starting from the date of contract signing.
7- The researcher must commit to publishing in accordance with the subject and objectives of the research proposal they submitted.
8- The Principal Investigator expresses gratitude to the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research at Qassim University according to the format mentioned in the contract signed between the Deanship and the Investigator.
9- The bonuses will be distributed as follows:

Researcher Generation Grant
The Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, through the “Research Generation“ scholarship, aims to develop students' research skills and enhance their ability to find innovative solutions to problems they face in their professional lives. Therefore, the Deanship seeks to overcome obstacles faced by male and female students in the field of research and innovation by finding effective mechanisms to encourage them to publish their research in ISI or Scopus ranked journals, as well as to build prototypes that contribute to achieving national and local development goals.
Terms and Conditions for Application
1- It is required that the principal investigator be a faculty member at Qassim University, with an academic rank of at least Assistant Professor, and serving as a supervisor or assistant supervisor for the research project or scientific thesis.
2- The research topic must fall within the university's research priorities or serve the community.
3- The student's supervisor must not be on probation according to the probation conditions set by the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research.
4- The research proposal must not have been previously supported by any other party and will not be submitted for support to any other party after its approval.
5- If the project output is a scientific publication, the scientific reference documented in the researcher's published research shall be in the following approved format:

6- Writing the University Email for a Researcher in Published Research (XXX@qu.edu.sa)
7- If the project outcome is a scientific publication, the researcher is obligated to publish a scientific paper in peer-reviewed journals listed in (ISI) or (Scopus) according to the latest version. The researcher's (researchers') affiliation with the university must be mentioned first according to the approved format, and no other format will be accepted. The university (represented by the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research) must also be acknowledged as follows:
“The author(s) gratefully acknowledge Qassim University, represented by the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research for the financial support of this project («رقم_المشروع»)during the academic year 1446 AH / 2024 AD.”
8- If the project deliverable is a scientific publication, the researcher must publish an Original Article in peer-reviewed and indexed scientific journals. Review articles will not be accepted as a publication deliverable for the project.
9- If the project output is a prototype, the researcher is obligated to conduct a workshop to review the project results in coordination with specialized research centers.
10- If the project output is a prototype, the researcher is obligated to submit the project outputs to the Deanships of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research.

Al-Qassim University has given great attention to the research, development, and innovation sector. Within this framework, the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research launched the Innovation Enhancement Grant, which aims to promote a knowledge-based economy by transforming ideas, sciences, and knowledge into products of high economic and societal value. Defense Research Grant - Faculty and Graduate Student Track
The idea to launch the Defense Research Grant came about in the context of developing research and development in all developmental and research fields, in partnership with the Prince Sultan Defense Studies and Research Center. This initiative aims to stimulate and develop human cadres and to nurture and refine the knowledge and capabilities necessary in fields and specializations related to military and defense industries and the research and development system in the Kingdom.
Defense Research Grant (Faculty Track) Conditions
1- The principal investigator must be a faculty member at Qassim University and hold an academic rank of no less than assistant professor.
2- The research team should consist of at least two researchers from within the university, and it is preferable to involve graduate students as research assistants.
3- It is preferable for the research team to consist of diverse specializations.
4- None of the research team members should be in a state of default or delinquency according to the default conditions specified by the Deanship of Scientific Research.
5- The research proposal has not been previously submitted for funding from any other entity, nor will it be submitted for funding from any other entity after approval of its support.
6- The research proposal must not exceed the percentage approved by the Deanship when tested with the plagiarism program.
7- Support must be acknowledged when publishing project outputs according to the format approved by the Deanship.
8- The research proposal must fall within the specified areas.

Defense Research Grant - Undergraduate Track (Graduation Projects)
From the perspective of developing research and development in all developmental and research fields, the idea of launching the Defense Research Scholarship came about in partnership with the Prince Sultan Center for Defense Studies and Research. This aims to stimulate and develop human resources and develop and refine the knowledge and capabilities necessary for students in fields and specializations related to military and defense industries and the Kingdom's research and development system.

Sustainable Development Research Grant
Sustainable Development Research Grant for Faculty Members, aiming to stimulate and encourage researchers in fields and specializations related to sustainable development and the research and development system in the Kingdom.
Terms and Conditions for the Sustainable Development Research Grant
1- The Principal Investigator must be a faculty member at Qassim University, with an academic rank of at least Assistant Professor.
2- The principal investigator or a member of the research team must not be in breach of the terms of breach as defined by the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research.
3- The research proposal should not have been previously supported by any other entity, and it should not be submitted to any other entity for support once approved.
4- It must not be a research paper extracted from an academic thesis (Master's, PhD, or previously funded research projects).
5- Team research rewards distribution shall be in accordance with the Unified Regulation for Scientific Research upon project closure and achievement of its outcomes, which include publishing one research paper in peer-reviewed journals indexed in Web of Science lists (Q1, Q2, and Q3) according to the latest version (for all specializations). For humanities specializations only, publication in peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus lists (Q1 and Q2) according to the latest version may be accepted, using the approved keywords for sustainable development (click here for reference).
6- To be the documented scientific reference in the published research for the researcher in the following approved format:

8- The research team shall consist of no more than two researchers, and one of the research team members must have prior publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
9- The scholarship duration is one year from the date of signing the contract between the principal investigator and the deanship.

How to Apply
1- The customized scholarship application form is filled out and completed (click here for the form).
2- Applications for the scholarship are submitted online through an electronic link (click here) after completing all required information and uploading all requested attachments.
3- Applications are reviewed and adjudicated by an external arbitration committee.
4- Requests submitted are evaluated and approved for support by the Deanship.
5- The principal investigator will be sent an email with the grant number and a copy of the contract upon approval.
6- The Principal Investigator is committed to signing the contract and sending it electronically, and delivering a hard copy to the Research Grants Coordinator at the Deanship of Scientific Research within a maximum of five days from the date of receipt.
The Development Scholarship - Second Edition
This is a grant aimed at implementing and completing studies and development projects for entities related to the university. Through these, the university's objectives will be achieved to enhance its capabilities and solve some existing problems.
Target entities
1- University agencies.
2- Supporting Deans.
3- Colleges.
4- Departments and Units.
Development Grant Program - Second Session Terms
1- The studies are to be presented by parties within the university.
2- All submitted studies are subject to arbitration and evaluation by the competent authorities and committees.
3- The project must not exceed 10 months to complete.
4- The principal investigator must be a Saudi national and an employee of the entity applying for the project.
5- The research team members consist of associate researchers (no more than five) in addition to the principal investigator.
6- Does the total amount allocated for research team bonuses not exceed 55,000 SAR according to the following table:

7- Support services that serve the development grant may be added, not exceeding 15,000 riyals, payable upon project closure.
8- The submitted project should primarily serve the applicant entity, and it is preferred that the project falls within the entity's strategic plan and is not already completed in the "Balamx" system.
9- The project will be closed and researchers' dues will be disbursed after the submission of a detailed report and a workshop to present the project's outcomes, followed by its approval by the relevant committees and authorities.
Research Grants for Development Services in the Qassim Region
One of the main goals of the strategic plan for Qassim University is to serve the development in the Qassim region, in a way that achieves the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. Therefore, the university, represented by the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, has launched a research projects grant to serve development in the Qassim region. The university provides support for 10 research projects carried out by 46 researchers, with the aim of contributing to accelerating development in the region to help achieve the Kingdom's Vision 2030. The grant includes several vital areas, foremost among them is roads, water and environment, animal production, and plant protection.
