UQU Medical City successfully performs surgery to remove a tumor pressing on the spinal cord

The University Medical City successfully performed a rare and complex surgery on a 45-year-old patient who suffered from a tumor compressing the spinal cord at the fifth cervical vertebra level, resulting in significant motor weakness in the left side of the upper and lower limbs.

The Medical City clarified that after conducting precise clinical evaluations and advanced radiological examinations by an integrated medical team working according to the highest approved medical standards, the necessity of urgent surgical intervention was decided due to the sensitivity and danger of the case to neurological functions. The operation was performed by a surgical team including Spine Surgery Consultant Dr. Abdullah Al-Saeed, with the participation of Anesthesia Consultant Dr. Omar Al-Musnad, in addition to the assisting nursing staff.

Thanks to God, the surgery was successful in completely removing the tumor while preserving the spinal cord's integrity. Motor function improvement was observed in the patient during a short period after the operation, allowing him to be discharged from the hospital in good health.
