A PhD dissertation from Qassim University won the Association of Arab Universities Award for Best Doctoral Thesis in Basic and Applied Sciences. Dr. Hadeel Mohammed Al-Fawzan, a graduate of the Geography Department, College of Languages and Humanities at Qassim University, was honored for her thesis, which discussed the role of small industries in achieving sustainable development in the Qassim region using geographical analysis and modern digital technologies.
The prize was awarded in the field of basic and applied sciences for the use of modern digital technology to achieve sustainable development goals within the framework of the green economy and its impact on human health. This was through her thesis titled “Small Industries and Their Role in Achieving Sustainable Development in the Qassim Region,” which she prepared under the supervision of Professor Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Aldughairi, Professor of Geography at Qassim University.
This achievement culminates the university's scientific efforts and is a result of the distinguished research work undertaken. It is also considered a qualitative addition to knowledge that keeps pace with the latest developments in the field of geography. The thesis was selected after strong scientific competition among the participating Arab universities and was honored during the proceedings of the 57th session of the General Conference of the Association of Arab Universities, held in the State of Kuwait.
